Clever Uses For Lemons

Lemons are an amazing fruit for a lot of reasons. For one, it’s not a very expensive fruit and secondly it is multifunctional. Many people are familiar with the typical uses for lemons such as in pastries, lemonade and even house cleaning products, but it turns out that there are several very clever uses for lemons that most people wouldn’t even think of.

I’ve put together a list of really clever uses for lemons that you can incorporate into your everyday life and after reading, you might even consider putting lemons on your grocery list regularly.


Reducing The Appearance Of Scars

If you have any sort of brown spots or scars from acne marks or any other cut, cut a lemon in half and rub it on the mark every night before you go to bed. Over the next few weeks, you should see a noticeable difference in color and the size of the mark.


Lemon Water

Lemon water is great because not only does it add a little natural flavor to your water, but it is super refreshing. Lemon water is calorie free and reduces your bodies free radicals in your body which cause your skin to age. Drinking lemon water is the greatest anti-aging drink out there.


Helps Respiratory Problems

Lemon juice can actually help reduce phlegm that builds up in your throat. This can be beneficial to anyone with asthma or have a hard time breathing.


Keeping Your Guacamole Green

Pour a little bit of fresh lemon juice over your guacamole after it is all mixed and ready in a bowl. The lemon juice will prevent the top layer from turning brown and keep your food fresh. The lemon juice also adds extra flavor and compliments the guacamole also.


Oral Health

Lemons can help whiten your teeth. Mix lemon juice with baking soda to make a whitening paste you can brush on your teeth before you go to bed. Lemon juice can also reduce toothaches and stop gums from bleeding.


Make Hair Lighter

Instead of bleaching your hair lighter from summer, put some lemon juice mixed with water on your hair and layout in the sun till it dries. The sun with the lemon juice will naturally lighten your hair. Do this for about a week and your hair will be much lighter!


Skin Treatment

Not only do lemons reduce age spots and dark marks, but they are great at drying out pimples and reducing acne. Lemon juice acts as a great cleanser and natural exfoliant. Your skin will improve over several treatments of this.



If you suffer from a dry, itchy scalp and you just can’t stop scratching, try massaging a little lemon juice into your scalp and then rinsing with water. To relieve the itchiness, repeat daily until your dandruff goes away.


Headache Relief

If you spent a night or two out with your girlfriends drinking at the best bars in town, you will most likely be feeling it in the morning with the spins and a splitting headache. Drink warm lemon juice with a couple teaspoons of tea. This is a great, natural alternative to pain killers.



Cut up a few lemons in have and place them in a decorative bowl and leave the bowl in any room that needs freshening such a the cats litter box room, the mud room or the bathroom. The room will soon smell fresh and clean.


Sweat Stains

Are your white t-shirts ruined from underarm sweat stains? Save yourself a trip to the dry cleaners and fix the problem yourself. Mix equal parts of lemon juice and water and scrub those yellow pit stains away!


I find these and many more uses for lemon and lemon juice to be very helpful when it comes to hygiene, cleaning your home or clothes and freshening food or odorous smells in the air. It turns out they are truly more beneficial to a healthy and happy life than anyone knew. Using more lemons throughout your day and in your life can be that little step you need to simply improve your overall health and wellness.
